A 200 m long goods train crosses a man standing on the platform at a speed of 48 km/hr. At the same time another goods train 150 metres long crosses that man at a speed of 60 km/hr in the reverse direction. Calculate the difference between time taken by both the trains to cross the man ?
Time taken by a train to cross a stationary man = Length of train / Speed of train. Calculate for both trains and find the absolute difference in time.
A small aeroplane can travel at 320 km/hour in still air. The wind is blowing at a constant speed of 40 km/hr. The total time for a journey against the wind is 135 minutes. What will be the time taken in minutes for the return journey with the wind ? (Ignore take-off and landing time)
Against wind speed = 320 - 40 = 280 km/hr. Distance = Speed * Time = 280 * (135/60) km. With wind speed = 320 + 40 = 360 km/hr. Time = Distance / 360, which simplifies to 105 minutes.
