पुढील दोन विधानांचा विचार करा. / Consider the following two statements :
(a)दोन्ही अर्ध्यागोलात 10° ते 20° अक्षांशत वाळवंट आहेत / There are deserts between 10° and 20° latitudes in both the hemispheres
(b)10° ते 20° अक्षांशत पावसापेक्षा बाष्पेचे प्रमाण अधिक आहे / Between 10° and 20° latitudes evaporation exceeds precipitation
Deserts are typically found in the subtropical high-pressure belts (10° to 30° latitudes) where descending air causes high atmospheric stability and dryness. In these regions, high temperatures lead to high evaporation rates which vastly exceed precipitation, resulting in arid conditions.
