The diameters of the bigger wheel and smaller wheel of a tractor are 50 cm and 35 cm respectively. How many revolutions will the smaller wheel make when the bigger one makes 21 revolutions ?
The distance covered by a wheel in one revolution is its circumference (π × diameter). Equate the total distance covered by both wheels: 50 × 21 = 35 × x, which gives x = 30.
Given below is an action and related facts (a) and (b) are following it. Select the appropriate option with respect to completion of this action. Anu, Chunu, Kanu and Ninu ran a race. All children start from the same line simultaneously. Using following facts select the person who won the race.
Twice the speed of Chunu, thrice the speed of Anu and four times speed of Ninu are equal.
When winner finished the race the average of the distances ran by Anu, Kanu and Ninu equalled the average distance ran by Anu and Kanu.
Statement (a) gives relative speeds, and statement (b) gives an algebraic relationship of distances covered by the runners. Both facts are needed simultaneously to determine unique numerical values for individual speeds and find the winner.
