In the following question, two statements and two conclusions are given. Assume that the given statements are true, even if they are inconsistent with reality. Determine which of the given conclusion/conclusions can be inferred from it ? Statements : I. All papers are pens. II. All tables are pens. Conclusions : I. Some tables are paper. II. No table is paper.
From 'All papers are pens' and 'All tables are pens', no direct intersection between paper and table is forced by the statements, hence either could overlap or be separate, making both conclusions individually uncertain.

MPSC's final answer key gives option 2 for this central-idea question. The paragraph contrasts the joy of empathy with people who enjoy others' suffering and spread negativity through social media; the key treats that negative behaviour as its central point.
"Reading fiction improves empathy and social understanding." Which of the following statements, if true, would most strongly support the claim above.
To strengthen the claim that reading fiction improves empathy, we need evidence linking fiction reading directly to higher empathy scores. Option A provides direct empirical support showing a positive correlation.
Identify two facts that prove conclusion : 'the area of village Aate is larger than that of village Sate', to be always true. Facts : (a) The area of village Pate is larger than that of village Wate. (b) Sate is not the village smallest with respect to area. (c) Pate would have been largest with respect to area had it not been for Nate. (d) Area wise, village Aate, is the third largest.
The area of village Pate is larger than that of village Wate.
Sate is not the village smallest with respect to area.
Pate would have been largest with respect to area had it not been for Nate.
Area wise, village Aate, is the third largest.
Facts (c) and (d) together establish the comparative hierarchy of the village areas where Aate is third largest and Pate's position implies Sate's relative size, satisfying the condition that Aate's area is larger than Sate's.
The full question and options are in the image above.
The passage describes millets as climate-resilient C4 crops needing little fertiliser or rain and carrying innate nutrition. The conclusion that follows is that growing more of them means less pollution, lower investment and better food security; the other options rely on claims the passage never makes.
Every element of B is an element of A. Some elements of C are elements of A. Every element of D is an element of C but no element of D is an element of A. Which of the following statements are impossible ?
Since every element of D is in C, but no element of D is in A, it is impossible for every element of C to be in A (as D's elements belong to C but not A).
The full question and options are in the image above.
The argument says the shopkeepers are inconsistent if they condemn tax avoidance yet practise it. If the protest's only purpose is to pressure the government into tackling big business's avoidance, they are not seeking the benefit for themselves, which most weakens the charge of hypocrisy.
Identify two facts that prove conclusion : 'Ten students failed the exam' to be always true. Facts : a. 40 students passed the exam. b. 10 students did not complete the exam and so neither passed nor failed. c. Number of students who failed outnumbered those who did not complete exam by 5 : 1. d. Number of students who passed outnumbered those who failed by 4 : 1.
40 students passed the exam.
10 students did not complete the exam and so neither passed nor failed.
Number of students who failed outnumbered those who did not complete exam by 5 : 1.
Number of students who passed outnumbered those who failed by 4 : 1.
Fact (a) gives 40 students passed, and fact (d) says those who passed outnumber those who failed by 4 : 1. So failed = 40 / 4 = 10, always. Facts (b) and (c) only tell us 10 did not complete and a ratio involving them, which never fixes the number who failed on its own with (b) or (d).
The full question and options are in the image above.
The passage concludes that millets are good for health partly because they are gluten-free. Showing that dropping wheat altogether costs B-vitamins, zinc and bran and harms gut bacteria directly weakens that health claim.
There are security experts, as well as ex-fraudsters, who are experts in artificial intelligence (AI). All people who are experts in AI are invited to join the team of security designers (SD) by one organization. Select one of the following that can be logically inferred based on the statements above.
Applying syllogism and conditional logic to the given statements about security experts, ex-fraudsters, and AI experts leads to the logical inference in option 3.
Given below is the main statement that is followed by statements labelled (a), (b), (c) and (d). Select the ordered pair of statements where the 1st statement implies 2nd and the two statements together are logically consistent with the main statement. You can watch a drama only if you have a ticket. (a) You watched a drama. (b) You had a ticket. (c) You did not watch a drama. (d) You did not have a ticket.
You watched a drama.
You had a ticket.
You did not watch a drama.
You did not have a ticket.
Based on conditional logic 'If P then Q' (Ticket -> Watch drama), the contrapositive or valid deduction is that watching the drama (a) implies having had a ticket (b).
An assumption is an unstated premise that must be true for the argument's conclusion to hold. Option 2 links complex estimation capability in reptiles to behavioral changes in their natural habitat, which is necessary for the argument.
Identifies parallel reasoning by matching the logical structure and argument form of the given passage with the correct option.
Study the statements given below and select the correct conclusion based on these, that follow : (a) All mathematicians exhibit an ability to do high level logical thinking. (b) Self-learning students, who are not the product of traditional school system, are usually found to be highly creative. (c) Only some of the mathematicians are highly creative.
All mathematicians exhibit an ability to do high level logical thinking.
Self-learning students, who are not the product of traditional school system, are usually found to be highly creative.
Only some of the mathematicians are highly creative.
None of the conclusions logically follow from the given premises because the statements do not establish a bidirectional relationship between logical thinking, creativity, and self-learning.
This is a statement-based critical reasoning question requiring identification of logical flaws in the argument. The correct option points out the specific fallacy present in the reasoning structure.
Study the reasoning used in the argument given below and select the option that most closely follows the same reasoning. If heat or light is emitted by a body, then its energy decreases. It follows that, if a body's energy remains constant, it has emitted neither heat nor light.
The original argument uses Modus Tollens (If P then Q; Not Q, therefore Not P). Option 1 follows the exact same contrapositive/Modus Tollens reasoning structure.
A φ B म्हणजे A हा B पेक्षा मोठा नाही A $ B म्हणजे A हा B पेक्षा लहान किंवा समान नाही A @ B म्हणजे A हा B पेक्षा मोठा किंवा समान नाही A # B म्हणजे A हा B पेक्षा लहान नाही विधान : H φ D, T $ D, F $ H अनुमाने : (I) F φ D (II) T # F (III) D $ F कोणते अनुमान/अनुमाने सत्य आहे? In following question, the symbols @, $, φ and # are used as follows. A φ B means A is not greater than B A $ B means A is neither smaller than or equal to B A @ B means A is neither greater than or equal to B A # B means A is not smaller than B Statement : H φ D, T $ D, F $ H Conclusions : (I) F φ D (II) T # F (III) D $ F Which conclusion/conclusions are true?
Decode symbols: φ = ≤, $ = >, @ = <, # = ≥. Statements: H ≤ D, T > D, F > H. Combining gives F > H ≤ D < T. Check conclusions: (I) F ≤ D is False, (II) T ≥ F is False, (III) D > F is False. Thus, none are true.
Study the statements given below and conclusions that follow these. Select the appropriate conclusion that is based on given statements.
All hockey players playing on the ground wear T-shirts with blue emblem.
All players who are on the ground don't play hockey.
Some hockey players also wear blue caps.
Hockey players who are below 16 years always wear a cap.
None of the given conclusions logically follow with absolute certainty from the statements provided about hockey players, caps, and ages.
Read the following argument carefully and select the most appropriate option that if true, indicates that their decision is not aimed at decreasing team member's risk of heart disease. A team of researchers studying effect of drinking coffee have found that persons drinking more than four cups of coffee have a risk of heart disease 2.5 times than the average after correcting it for age and smoking habits. It is important to note that the members of this team declared that they have started limiting their own daily coffee intake to two cups as a result of above finding. (1) It is well established fact that the stress is major causal factor related to heart disease but it is not clear whether this team has collected information about variations in coffee consumption are directly related to the variations in stress levels. (2) Subsequent studies have shown that non-smokers consume coffee at about one-third the rates of heavy smokers. (3) Subsequent studies have shown that heavy coffee consumption causes an elevation in blood-cholesterol level, an immediate indicator of increased risk of heart disease. (4) Their own study found that for persons drinking three or more cups of coffee daily, the additional risk of heart disease increased with each extra daily cup.
Option (1) points out that stress might be the confounding variable causing both heart disease and coffee drinking, meaning reducing coffee alone may not reduce the risk if stress levels remain unaddressed.
विधाने : Two of the four statements given below cannot be true simultaneously but they can be false at the same time. Select the option that indicates the pair of statements that satisfy given conditions.
(a)No citizen of smart city X wastes a single drop of water.
(b)Some citizens of smart city X use water carefully.
(c)Every citizen of smart city X uses water without caring about water crisis.
(d)Some citizens of smart city X use water carelessly.
Statements (a) and (c) are contraries; they cannot both be true simultaneously (one says all citizens don't waste water, the other says every citizen wastes water), but both can be false if some waste and some don't.
Study the following statements and select the valid conclusion based on these from given options.
Members of farmer's families only can appear for the agricultural university admission examinations.
Some girls are appearing for admission examination.
All girls candidates are given free coaching for one NGO.
None of the given conclusions logically follow from the premises because the premises talk about farmer family members and girls separately without establishing a universal overlap or exclusive restriction.
An unstated assumption bridges the gap between the evidence and the conclusion in an argument, often presupposing a causal link or the absence of confounding factors.
Below four statements and three conclusions are given. You have to take the given statements to be true. Decide which of the given conclusions logically true from given statements. Statements : All roads are buses. Some buses are cars. Some cars are days. All days are nights. Conclusions : (I) Some nights are buses. (II) Some nights are cars. (III) Some days are buses.
Tracing the relations: All roads=buses, some buses=cars, some cars=days, all days=nights. Conclusion II correctly follows as some nights are cars through the intermediate links.
Supporters of prisoner pensions argue that critics miss the broader objective: long-term crime prevention through rehabilitation is more vital than mere punitive views.
Some Bs are Ts.
Some Ts are Xs.
All Bs are Gs.
Some Ts are Gs.
Given: All B are X, All X are G, Some G are T. Therefore, All B are G (transitive property: B->X->G) is true, and Some T are G (reverse of Some G are T) is true.
Both arguments 'a' and 'c' use the same pattern of reasoning: eliminating alternative possibilities (disjunctive syllogism/process of elimination) to arrive at a definite conclusion.
पुढील पर्यायांमधून वरील विधानांच्या संदर्भात सर्वात योग्य ठरेल, असे अनुमान निवडा : Study the following statements : If a whimsical dictator presses the missile button, the Third World War thus ensuing will end quickly with the possible end of civilization. It is only the hegemony of people like him and the misuse of nuclear power which will trigger this war. Select the statement from the following options that is the most appropriate inference related to the above statements :
Based on the conditional statement, the hegemony and nuclear misuse by dictators directly trigger the catastrophic war, making it the most sound inference.
पुढील विधानांचे परीक्षण करा : वरील विधानांच्या आधारे पुढील पर्यायांमधून सर्वात यथार्थ निष्कर्ष निवडा : Examine the following statements : Select the most valid conclusion based on the above statements from the following options :
All concrete houses in this village are painted white.
Some of the houses have spacious porches.
Concrete houses that are built after liberalization have spacious porches.
All houses are not concrete houses.
From the premises that all concrete houses are white and some concrete houses have spacious porches, it logically follows by intersection that there are some white concrete houses with spacious porches in the village.
III.
Those who travel by non-AC vehicles suffer from air pollution.
All the affluent do not travel by AC vehicles.
All the affluent do not have health problems.
All those who travel by AC vehicles are affluent people.
Premise I states that only the rich can afford AC vehicles. Therefore, anyone traveling in an AC vehicle must be wealthy (D: '
Study the statements and the conclusions given below. Select logically the valid option of conclusions with respect to the statements. Statements : The Government run company had asked its employees to declare their income and assets, but it has been strongly resisted by the employees union and none of the employee has declared his/her income. Conclusions : I. The employees of this company do not seem to have any additional income besides their salary. II. The employees union wants all senior officers to declare their income first.
Neither conclusion follows because the statement only indicates that employees resisted declaring income and none did so, but it does not provide evidence about whether they have additional income or what the union's motives are.

(ii) 'A = B' चा अर्थ आहे, A हा B पेक्षा लहान नाही किंवा B एवढा नाही. (iii) 'A⊗B' चा अर्थ आहे, A हा B पेक्षा मोठा नाही. (iv) 'A≠B' चा अर्थ आहे, A हा B एवढा आहे किंवा B पेक्षा मोठा आहे. (v) 'AⒶB' चा अर्थ आहे, A हा B पेक्षा लहान आहे. विधाने : P©T; T⊗Y; Y≠B; B = D. निष्कर्ष : (I) T = B (II) Y©D In the following question, ©, ⊗, =, ≠ and Ⓐ have been given the meanings as follows : (i) 'A©B' means, A, is not less than or greater than B. (ii) 'A = B' means, A, is not less than B or not equal to B. (iii) 'A⊗B' means, A, is not greater than B. (iv) 'A≠B' means, A is equal to B or A is greater than B. (v) 'A Ⓐ B' means, A is less than B. Here four statements and two inferences derived from them, are given. Considering the statements true, select the proper alternative about inferences, which is/are exactly correct. Statements : P©T; T⊗Y; Y≠B; B = D. Inferences : (I) T = B (II) Y©D
Translating the new symbols: © means '=', ⊗ means '≤', ≠ means '≥', = means '>', Ⓐ means '<'. The statements become P = T, T ≤ Y, Y ≥ B, B > D. Evaluating inferences (I) T = B and (II) Y©D (Y = D) shows neither can be definitively established as universally true.
A statement and two presumptions from it are given below. Select an alternative about the presumption/presumptions which is/are implied in the given statement. Statement : A nationalised bank had advertised in a national daily news paper that qualified candidates should apply for 100 posts of Chartered Accountants. Preassumptions : (i) The qualified Chartered Accountants will respond to this advertisement. (ii) The qualified Chartered Accountants willing to be appointed in a nationalised bank are adequate in number.
An advertisement by a bank for specific posts implicitly assumes that qualified candidates will apply (Presumption 1) and that such candidates exist in adequate numbers (Presumption 2).
विधाने : B%N ; NδF ; F*H निष्कर्ष : I - H$N II - F%B III - B%H The meanings of @, δ, *, $, and % are as follows : PδQ means, P, is not less than Q. P*Q means, P, is not greater than Q. P%Q means, P, is not greater than Q and not equal to Q. P$Q means, P is not less than Q and not equal to Q. P@Q means, P is not greater than or less than Q. Considering the statements true, which of the conclusion/s I, II, III is/are perfectly true ? Select the correct alternative. Statement : B%N ; NδF ; F*H Conclusion : I - H$N II - F%B III - B%H
Translating the symbols into standard inequalities: % means '<', δ means '≥', * means '≤'. Given B < N, N ≥ F, F ≤ H. Combining them: B < N ≥ F ≤ H, which gives no definitive relationship between H and N, F and B, or B and H. Hence, none are true.
